I always enjoy shooting birthdays, but there’s something special about turning thirteen. I love the stage of life being celebrated — the celebrant truly suspended, albeit for a brief time, between child and adult. This bat mitzvah was so much fun to photograph, from the portraits and the ceremony straight through to the party.
