As a photographer who lives in New York City and specializes in portraiture and event photography, I’ve photographed dozens and dozens of bar and bat mitzvahs over the last fifteen years. If you’re on this page, your son or daughter or loved one is probably preparing for his or her ceremony. Though it’s something of a blur, I remember my own bar mitzvah a few several  many years ago: the nerves leading up to the day itself, the exhilaration of getting through the service without too many hiccups (my parents were beaming), jockeying for pizza after the candle lighting ceremony, then dancing with my classmates and friends while the DJ spun tunes. I went to London with some of my mitzvah money, Kodak Disc camera in hand, and I still have those photographs. It was a big day — a day I’d remember a lot better if we’d had a photographer. [more]

Photography & Videography Services & Rates

I’ve photographed everything from a simple backyard picnic following the ceremony to a full package including pre-day portraits + temple rehearsal + temple ceremony + kiddush/oneg + venue party. Usually families want albums and perhaps a montage, but sometimes they don’t. Some want a videographer and a second photographer, depending on how large the event is. In other words, pricing varies significantly. The best way to get an exact quote is to contact me so that we can discuss your plans, but just to give you a sense of the neighborhood:

  • My day rate (including an online, password-protected gallery and a complete set of high-resolution images): Starts at $3,400
  • My hourly rate (for shorter events):  $450 / hour, minimum of 4 hours (2 hours on non-holiday weekdays)

I offer pre-built packages or you can build your own from an “a la carte” menu that starts with my photography and allows you to add on your choice of:

  • 2nd photographer
  • Videographers
  • Pre-event portraits
  • Album options
  • Slideshow set to music, and more

To get detailed pricing, either contact me or fill out this request form.  I’d love to hear more about your plans, and I’d be honored to be your photographer!
