What do Deutsch Photography and The Sopranos have in common?

It was deja vu all over again when we started watching The Sopranos to celebrate the show’s 25th anniversary.

No, we haven’t turned to a life of crime.

Deja vu, which we’re sure you’ve experienced, is that illusive memory you sometimes have of a past experience that never actually happened. Perhaps it’s someone you meet who you’re certain you’ve encountered before, but turns out that you didn’t. Perhaps it’s a place you’ve never been but it feels sooooo familiar.

Carmela Soprano and Father Phil came on screen. They were sitting on a pew in a beautiful cathedral, deep in conversation.

“Whoa, weird,” Brett said. “I feel like I’ve been there before.”

Sometimes deja vu isn’t a false memory. As a photographer, Brett has amazing visual recall.

Carmela and Father Phil were filmed in The Church of St. Rita in Long Island City in 1999.

In 2015 — NINE years ago — Brett photographed a wedding in the same church. A little quick trip down digital lane turned up the photos.

Location, location, location isn’t always about the real estate market!
