You Choose, We Give is our annual charity benefit.

We’ve been running You Choose, We Give for several years now. If you want to see the progression over time, check out some past years here and here and here. Before we do our annual “Team Deutsch Photo” shoot, we scout locations in our neighborhood in NYC. Do you recognize the one from West Harlem in the past contests. (And that’s our beloved SamTheDog in West Harlem, by the way. He died in 2019 at sixteen-and-a-half years old, and we miss him every day.)

Certainly the location of the shot below is apparent, right? It’s seven blocks up from our apartment.

And we love doing this benefit. :

❤️Because we get to give back.

❤️And we learn about the causes you, our clients and our friends, consider near and dear to your hearts.

❤️And best of all, we get to help others get a little traction when they need it most. Because sometimes, as least in our personal experience, sometimes it’s that very leg up that makes the difference between deciding to keep going or giving up. Between success and failure. And sometimes, just a moment to breathe when you’ve been doing everything you can to stay afloat. I’ve needed that many, many times in life.

And it’s easy-breezy to participate.

  1. You nominate your favorite charity on our Instagram post. It must be a 501(c)(3), and all nominations must be in by April 1, 2024.
  2. Then we toss all the nominees into a hat and give it a good shake.
  3. After that, we randomly pull three nominees from the hat and announce the winners on April 2 on Instagram (@deutschphoto), LinkedIn, and our blog.
  4. Then we donate a portion of our previous year’s revenue to your charity! You’ll receive an official notification if you win.

You Choose, We Give, They Receive.  Win/Win/Win!

And by the way, a little about that fabulous mural behind us.  The artist is TOTEM (follow him on IG at @totemgraffx), and the mural is located in Washington Heights (obvs!). Also, here’s some background info if you want to learn more. And if you come to Washington Heights, make sure to check out the Audubon Project. Since Audubon lived and worked here, the neighborhood decided to celebrate by inviting local artists to do bird-related graffiti and murals. Cool, right?

What better way to celebrate spring? Have a beautiful, healthy, joyful season.

*One nomination per person. Nomination must be a 501(c)(3).
